A great Christmas cookie to make for the holidays

With Christmas just around the corner, it’s time to get into some holiday baking, of course! This is one of the best things to do this time of year. Naturally, this year is a particularly good time to stay in and make baking more fun for the whole family. While baking cookies isn’t strictly a Christmas thing, there’s something special about baking cookies for the holidays. Maybe the cold weather or the Christmas atmosphere makes it different, we don’t know. Be that as it may, there is nothing like it in reality. If you want to bake hot cookies for yourself, your family, friends or even neighbors, this recipe will be perfect to prepare. Classic yet simple, these mouth-watering cookies will be a big hit no matter who you serve them to. The best part? They are so easy to make! You won’t have to spend all day slaving away trying to expertly frost cookies to make others happy. Another cool feature of this particular recipe is that you can freeze the dough and bake it another time if you want. You’ll have a quick way to bake delicious cookies in minutes when you need them. All you need to bake this recipe is just one bowl, a whisk or hand mixer, and an ice cream scoop. It really is. Put on an apron, turn on some festive music and enjoy the process! You will be more than happy with the end result, trust us.

What you will need:

  • 1 cup of brown sugar
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla
  • 3 cups of flour
  • 1/2 cup sprinkles (or mini chocolate chips)
  • 1 cup M&Ms
  • (optional) mini marshmallows

How:

  1. The first thing you want to do is preheat your oven to 350F (175C). Then, in a large bowl, beat together the butter, oil and sugar. Make sure they are well mixed before adding the eggs. Beat the mixture until it’s nice and fluffy.
  2. Then add baking soda, salt, baking powder, vanilla and flour to the mixture. Mix until fully combined.
  3. Gently fold sprinkles or mini chocolate chips into the mixture.
  4. Using an ice cream scoop (that you greased a little earlier), make individual cookies. Place them on a greased cookie sheet – leave a space between each one as they expand as they bake. About 2 inches of space between the cookies should be enough. Top each cookie with 4-5 M&M pieces.
  5. If you want to add something extra, top each cookie with a mini marshmallow or two to turn the cookies into s’mores cookies!
  6. Bake cookies for 7-8 minutes. Allow them to cool slightly before transferring them to a cooling rack. Serve and enjoy! They are best while still slightly warm and gooey from the oven.
  7. Bonus: For a really festive feel, make some hot chocolate to go with your cookies. Take a small pan and put in it 2 cups of whole milk with 2.5 tbsp. unsweetened cocoa and 2.5 tbsp. sugar. Heat it over medium to low heat while whisking. Once it’s warm – not boiling – add some chocolate chips and continue whisking until the chocolate chips melt. Add 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract and beat. Pour into mugs and serve!
