Make Your Home Like a Spooky Vacation With These Halloween Decoration Tips
The joy of Halloween is practically evident as the holidays draw near. The weather was getting colder, the days were getting shorter, and we were starting to feel the horror in the air. If you’re anything like us, you can’t wait to go out and decorate your home in honor of the holidays. Since parties may not be possible this year, we’re going to give you some great tips on how you can decorate your home like a pro for Halloween.
Remove Decoration First
Before you do anything, you need to make sure you have a clean whiteboard to work with. Remove your ordinary picture frames from the walls and any other decorations you may have in your home. Think accessories and such. If you have a throw pillow, get her a new seasonal blanket too.
Think Color Scheme
Decorating for Halloween is like decorating for another reason: decorations need to be cohesive to look their best. Going with a classic combo like orange and black is always a good choice. However, if that’s not your style, you can opt for colors like black and green and maybe purple as well. If you want a more sophisticated look, you can stick black with a metal like silver or gold. Just run with it!
Use Pumpkin
Of course, Halloween is not the same without pumpkins. We all love Jack-O-Lanterns, but pumpkins can be used in many other ways too. For a more chic look, you can paint the pumpkin however you like. You can use pumpkins both inside and out – even as a welcome sign that you’ve painted or as a table decoration that you’ve carved! Get creative with it. Of course, you can fork and do all sorts of things with them instead of just one.
Candles – Lots Of Them
What’s scarier than a dark room filled with thin white candles? There’s a reason candles are a Halloween staple. They are a great way to set a spooky mood in a room. To create a more elaborate look, mix and match different heights and sizes. Also, you can use an electric candle by the window and make it flicker for a spooky effect.
Add Some Gore
If you really want to go all out, add some really spooky elements to your home. Think tombstones, skeletons, mice, and spiders. Place them strategically in the house so they have a more sinister effect. Instead of just placing the spider, say, on your desk, hang it in a dark corner where you can see it out of the corner of your eye. Or, you can place some spiders in a lampshade for a dark scene. Of course, don’t forget the cobwebs too!
Throwing Some Poison
For a nice finishing touch, spray paint a few empty wine bottles and any other glass bottles you may have to make a ‘poison’ bottle that you can add as decoration. If you’re feeling more upscale, you can print out some labels to stick on to really look good.
